Tell me about the SIGMA-RH project. What was the work and what was the outcome?

SIGMA-RH is a Canadian HR tech company that provides enterprise-grade software solutions to streamline human resources, health and safety, and compliance processes. Their platform helps large organizations centralize employee data, automate HR workflows, and ensure regulatory compliance.

My Role

I joined as Lead Front-End Developer from 2022 to 2024, tasked with modernizing the front-end architecture of their enterprise HR platform. I worked closely with the UX team to bring a fully redesigned, Figma-based design system to life, translating complex design components into scalable, reusable code while ensuring compatibility with the existing legacy infrastructure.

I integrated key modules across the platform — including administrative, health & safety, and labor relations tools — while maintaining performance, accessibility, and theme flexibility for SIGMA-RH's white-label clients. This work played a major role in modernizing a solution used by tens of thousands of employees across large organizations.

The Challenge

Modernizing a legacy enterprise platform while maintaining backward compatibility. The existing infrastructure had to continue serving thousands of users without disruption while we implemented a completely new front-end architecture with a modern design system. Every component had to coexist with the old system during a gradual migration — there was no cutover, no downtime, no second chance.

The Solution

I designed and executed a gradual migration strategy using a component-based architecture that allowed new and legacy systems to coexist seamlessly. Each module was migrated independently, reducing risk and allowing the team to validate each piece before moving to the next.

Design System Implementation

The UX team had designed an entirely new visual language in Figma. My job was to translate that into production-ready code. I built a comprehensive component library with scalable, reusable primitives that maintained perfect consistency across administrative, health & safety, and labor relations modules. Every button, table, and form had to feel the same whether it appeared in a compliance report or an employee management dashboard.

Enterprise Scale & Theming

SIGMA-RH's platform serves tens of thousands of employees across large organizations, often deployed under white-label partnerships. I built a flexible theming system that allowed each enterprise client to maintain their own brand identity without duplicating code or sacrificing consistency. Performance optimization and accessibility compliance (WCAG) were non-negotiable requirements baked into every component from day one.

The Impact

The modernization gave SIGMA-RH a foundation they could build on for years — faster iteration cycles, a unified design language across the entire product suite, and the confidence that their platform could scale with their largest enterprise clients.
